Happy Holidays, You are invited

The holiday season is fast approaching. This means StudioG is in creative chaos as I prepare for my annual studio sale. You are invited. Please come and join us in a small celebration. There will be live jazz with the fabulous Max Zipursky Trio, (not to be missed), great food and drink and a selection of small artworks created and curated especially for the day. I love this opportunity to play in a very different scale, florals conceived as petite meditations, mixing up the color palette and continuing to introduce small studies of the landscape inspired by my riverside location. It is an afternoon to say thank you to all of you out there in my community who have been of support and inspiration and just generally to have a little fun.

For those of you who cannot attend, I wish you a great holiday with your friends and family. May it be peaceful and reflect brightly, the values of oneness and harmony.

Coming up, look for an interview i did for Christine Dovey and her blog in the section Art Fair Fridays

and finally, if the season has lost a little of its lustre recently, a few words of quiet inspiration

The Peace of Wild Things

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

    Dear Gabryel,

Thank you so much for inviting me in your festive party. I am very touched to be included.

I am in Calgary and not sure it will be possible to make it, however, I’m trying to shuffle a few commitments as I’m keen to meet you and excited to see your work again. Thrilled, is more the word.

May I let you know closer to the event? If you need to process numbers now, then I will be courteous and send my regrets. If you can wait just a wee bit longer, till Thursday Dec. 3, 2015, I will be sure to let you know.

    Kind regards and many thanks,

    Lisa Tomlinson
